Every spring begins a search for me. Not for something big or rare, but for something small, the orange tip. This delicate butterfly, in which the male has orange wingtips and beautifully marbled undersides, is for me the sign that spring has really started.
Looking for this little butterfly has now become a tradition. As soon as the first cuckoo flowers appear, one of its most important host plants, I know it's time to go out. Usually early in the morning, when the grass is still wet with dew. Sometimes it takes me a while to find one, which makes me all the happier when I manage to photograph one.
