The water is gone, the wind has subsided and the sun is setting. All you can hear on the mudflats are the birds searching for their evening meal a little further down the tide line. In a moment it will be time to make your own dinner, but first enjoy the silence. It is one of the most soothing moments you can experience: falling dry on the Wadden Sea.
Pictured is a Hoogaars sailing ship on a sandbank of the Wadden Sea at low tide during sunset one evening in summer. The low viewpoint makes for a special image, and the small aperture makes the sun have a nice star shape.
