The Nuragic houses of Giara di Gesturi are a unique example of Sardinia's prehistoric architecture. Also known as "Nuraghi", these houses were built between 1800 and 500 BC by the island's original inhabitants. Constructed of large stone blocks, these houses are circular in shape, with thick walls and a central column. This column serves as a support for the roof of the house. The houses were often built on hills or near a spring, which made them an ideal location for defence and water supply.
