About "Northern lights over Budir church"

About the artwork

Sometimes nature seems to put on a show especially for you. That evening at the black church of Budir in Iceland was one of those. While it was pitch dark and the wind was howling across the plain, the northern lights suddenly came alive: bright green veils swept across the sky, right above the lonely little church. The contrast between the old wooden facade and the modern play of light in the sky made it a magical scene for me.

My inspiration for this photo was the feeling of being alone with nature. As a photographer, you feel small, but also privileged, standing in such a legendary place. I waited for a long time until the clouds opened and the aurora finally appeared. That excitement and waiting made the result extra special for me.

This work brings a touch of Icelandic magic to the home: a combination of adventure, mysticism and tranquillity. It is a photograph that immediately grabs your attention but at the same time evokes a sense of stillness and wonder. Perfect for a place where you want to dream and be inspired every day.

About Roy Poots

In 2009 Roy Poots bought his very first SLR camera, a Canon EOS 450D. After having photographed everything for a while, he realised that he liked landscapes, architecture and (nocturnal) cityscapes the most by far. Since then, he has devoted himself to these subjects.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
