The Koppelpoort in Amersfoort is one of the most photogenic city gates in the Netherlands, especially during the blue hour. In this photo, you can see how the warm light from the lanterns makes the medieval brick glow, while the gate and its towers reflect beautifully in the calm waters of the city canal. What inspired me about this moment was the interplay of history, silence and atmosphere; the city seems to go back in time for a moment as soon as night falls.
I waited until the blue hour, when the sky turns a deep colour and the lights add life to the old city centre. The symmetry and reflection add depth to the picture and make it a real eye-catcher. It is a place that invites you to stop and enjoy the beauty of our heritage.
