If our senses are often overtaxed in the cities, it is often a pleasure in nature to perceive the surroundings with awareness and all our senses. When we run our hands over moss, we feel moisture and a wonderfully soft surface. No wonder: mosses can soak up water like a sponge and later release it again as water vapor ... an important contribution to the often pleasantly cool forest climate. In addition, dried moss was used centuries ago as a soft pillow filling. This is how “Schlafmoos” got its German name.
