About ‘New York’ by Jeroen Quirijns

In 2001, I travelled to New York with some friends; we were on one of the first flights to the US following the attacks on "The Twin Towers". An event that left the world holding its breath and fearful of what was to come. The divisions in the world have not diminished as a result. Ask a New Yorker about the circumstances of the attacks and you’ll find that they don’t entirely agree with the explanation the government accepted as the truth at the time. That aside. Beneath the Brooklyn Bridge, looking towards Manhattan, lie five copper plaques telling the story of how the Dutchman Pieter Minuit bought Manhattan from the Canarsie Indians for 60 guilders in 1626.
That image and the history of the indigenous people were the inspiration for this work, prompting you to ask yourself aloud "wat als?"
what would the future have looked like then? You see a Native American eating an ‘America’ sandwich in a chalk-coloured suit on the street; it’s always busy in "a city that never sleeps", the buildings reaching towards the sky like glass and crystal columns... So fragile, everything constantly in flux, and some people eating and living off the streets. The Native American wonders: what do you want from me – that I should become just like them? A beautiful painting to gaze at for hours; it never gets boring! I’ve lifted a corner of the veil; it’s up to the viewer to let their imagination run wild.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
