The route to Machu Picchu, Peru's iconic site, is a breathtaking adventure. The route winds its way through towering mountains, offering spectacular scenery that looks as if it has remained untouched for centuries. The hike follows winding trails, inherited from the Inca civilisation, that ascend and descend through rainforests, crystal-clear rivers, deep valleys and Andean highlands. Travellers are surrounded by majestic mountain peaks, sometimes shrouded in low clouds, creating a mysterious and bewitching atmosphere. The route is dotted with Inca ruins and small, remote villages, a reminder of the region's rich culture. The local flora and fauna are just as fascinating, with wild orchids, colourful birds and the occasional llama or vicuña inhabiting the heights. This route to Machu Picchu is a physical and mental challenge, but the grandiose landscapes and unspoilt beauty of the Andes will more than reward every step. It's a unique journey through time and nature, to the sacred sanctuary of the Inca Empire.
