The Mills Van Ruisbroek or Les Moulins de Ruysbroeck is a large and striking complex. You pass it as you leave Brussels by train towards France. I always wondered what it looked like up close, so I decided to bike over and photograph it.
It was in the fall of 2021, just before our sunset. The surface of the water was almost still, adding to the beautiful reflection of the mill complex in the water. And the floodlight shone down the side of the building in a fantastic way. This made the orange bricks stand out even more.
The photo is razor-sharp: if you zoom in, you can see the structure of the bricks. It is also fun to see how this building was remodeled. You can see the renovations on the outside.
The atmosphere in the photo is that of a relatively warm autumn afternoon.
