About "Metal shapes and lines in warm and cool shades"

by Lisette Rijkers

About the artwork

This abstract artwork shows a beautiful distribution of different shapes and lines. These shapes and lines are located on a metal object. I took a photo of this metal object and that photo was digitally distorted and used four times for this abstract artwork. The wavy shapes from each photograph are beautifully intertwined and folded over each other in the centre of this abstract and colourful artwork. This creates a magical and intriguing image.
The entire artwork is done in warm and cool tones. Shades in blue with grey and shades in orange with brown. These complementary colours complement each other beautifully but are also a wonderful contrast to each other. The contrast is further enhanced by the dark background. This black background makes the shapes and lines shine even more.
The inspiration for this unusual and artistic work of art is a simple utensil. A beautiful old metal object. Old objects have charm, signs of use can be seen and there might be damage. All this is fine, it makes the object even more beautiful.
Such an old metal object deserves a beautiful photograph. In this photo, the metal structure is beautifully visible.
Because only part of the object is depicted and also because it is distorted, your imagination is put to work. The question remains which object is involved, but that is the charm of this special work of art!
