The Malaysian spotted marten (Martes flavigula) is a medium-sized predator of the family of martenaceae (Mustelidae). The species was first validly published by Pieter Boddaert in 1785. The species is found in the Russian Far East, the Korean Peninsula, eastern China, the Himalayas, Indochina, the Malaysian Peninsula and the Great Sunda Islands.
This medium-sized carnivore has an orange-brown coat with a cream-coloured throat. The Malaysian coloured marten is a lot bigger than a stone marten. The tail, unlike that of the stone marten, is not bristly. The body length is about 40-60 cm and the tail 38-43 cm. An adult marten can weigh up to 3.4 kilos.
