The image has a slightly antique feel to it, as if from earlier times. The flat water, the rounded shore and in the background something that looks like a town or village, although it could also be a dike, with behind it a harbor with sailing ships ready to sail the sea.
Along the edge of the long, long shore of a large pond are numerous windmills. They move nicely with the curve of the bank. The land is flat and level, so there must be quite a lot of wind. I think I came across them on my way to one of the Dutch peninsulas. A fascinating image. The horizontal landscape where in symmetrical, vertical lines the windmills reach for the sky.
