Watercolour painting of Lazise on Lake Garda.
Between Bardolino and Peschiera lies the atmospheric town of Lazise. The town's name comes from the Latin Laceses, meaning 'place by the lake'.
I photographed this composition across the cosy little harbour overlooking the street Via Fontana. I loved the place and decided to paint it one day.
In the foreground you can see part of the water of the cosy harbour with two small fishing boats. Behind it is the promenade with the tall mansions with the charming little windows, the cosy terrace of restaurant Gipi's Bar where people are eating and drinking under the parasols and sunshades. Because it was a very hot day.
I visited this cosy medieval town in the middle of summer. This painting exudes 'holiday' and 'cosiness' and is an atmospheric image as a wall decoration. I painted the original painting with watercolours and ink pen on A3 size and 300g watercolour paper.
