Located in the Eduardo Avaroa Andean National Wildlife Reserve, Laguna Colorada is an emblematic site in Bolivia, close to the famous Salar d'Uyuni. This shallow lagoon is distinguished by its brilliant red waters, a hue that comes from the pigments produced by the microalgae present in the lake. Contrasting with the white of the borax deposits, the landscape offers a striking spectacle, made all the more spectacular by the presence of the pink flamingos, which populate the lagoon in large numbers.
At an altitude of more than 4,200 metres, the Laguna Colorada is surrounded by ochre-coloured mountains, adding to the impression of a living painting. It's a paradise for photographers and nature lovers, where you can observe the wealth of local wildlife in a unique setting. This natural gem is a striking testimony to the diversity of Bolivia's landscapes and a must-see destination for any traveller in search of spectacular discoveries.
