Kampen by Night: The Historic Fleet on the IJssel by Fotografiecor .nl

This night-time shot of Kampen captures a magical moment on the banks of the IJssel. The composition is dominated by an impressive fleet of historic sailing ships, their masts adorned with atmospheric strings of lights that reflect like golden lines on the calm, mirror-like water. On the left, the iconic, blue-and-white illuminated Nieuwe Toren serves as a beacon, whilst the bright moon and subtle clouds cast a dreamy, soft glow over the monumental quayside façades.

For me, as a photographer in the IJssel Delta, this image captures the very essence of the Hanseatic city at night. The sweeping perspective from the water shows just how closely Kampen and shipping are intertwined. It is the tranquillity of the river, combined with the vibrancy of the illuminated rigging, that transports the viewer into the city’s rich maritime history.

This work calls for a presentation that accentuates the deep blacks and the reflections of light. A finish on acrylic glass is ideal for this; the high gloss enhances the sparkle of the lights on the water and gives the image a luxurious, deep appearance. This fits perfectly into a modern or classic interior where you wish to make a soothing, atmospheric statement.

Bring the enchanting atmosphere of the illuminated Kampen quay into your home and create a timeless haven of tranquillity within your interior.
