Cornflowers in the Polder – An idyll in the summer evening light by Fotografiecor .nl

This photograph captures the ethereal purity of cornflowers in the final days of spring. The slanting light of the setting sun filters through the vegetation, creating a natural ‘halo effect’ around the flowers and accentuating the delicate textures of the petals. The balance between the deep blue tones of the cornflowers and the soft white accents in the grass creates a harmonious, visually calming scene.

For me as a photographer, the Dutch polder in the evening hours is a place of escape. As the day draws to a close, the roadside transforms into a magnificent stage. Capturing that one moment when the warm sunlight makes the flowers glow is my way of documenting and sharing the simplicity and unparalleled beauty of our own landscape.

This image brings a refreshing, rural tranquillity to any space. It is ideal for a modern-rustic interior, a light-filled study or as part of a botanical photo wall. For the best viewing experience, I recommend a print on fine-art matt paper, which beautifully showcases the soft textures and pure colours of the cornflowers without any distracting reflections.
