The church tower of Wilten Abbey - photographed against the backdrop of the Nordkette mountain range.
Wilten Abbey is located at the foot of the Bergisel, not far from the famous ski jump. Wilten Abbey is a Premonstratensian monastery founded in 1138 by Bishop Reginbert of Brixen in Innsbruck, the capital of the Austrian province of Tyrol.
With just over 130,000 inhabitants, Innsbruck is the most populous city in Tyrol and the fifth largest city in Austria. Innsbruck is a popular winter sports centre in the Alps. The Nordketten cable car takes you from the city centre up to an altitude of 2,256 m.
The old town with its historic buildings such as the Golden Roof, the Hofburg and the Ottoburg is located right in the centre of the city. The old town centre is easy to explore on foot. Everything is traffic-calmed and easily accessible. The Nordkette mountain range can be seen in the background, which is particularly picturesque. The narrow alleyways are perfect for a stroll.
