During a breathtaking sailing trip through Scoresby Sound in Greenland, you truly realise just how insignificant we are as human beings. This image was captured during a serene moment on the expedition, when the wind died down briefly and the sky took on the soft, almost surreal hues of the far north. The inspiration for this work was the serene tranquillity of sailing amongst ancient ice giants. On the right-hand side, a gigantic, sculptural iceberg dominates the scene. The ice displays a fascinating texture; deep, vivid blue fracture lines cut horizontally and diagonally through the white mass, bearing witness to the enormous pressure under which it was formed. On the far left, subtly balanced within the composition, sails the traditional sailing ship. This small, elegant silhouette against the dark water’s surface offers the viewer an immediate sense of scale and perspective. In the background, icy mountain ranges fade into a soft, pastel-coloured sky, emphasising the layering and immense depth of the fjord. With this work, I convey an atmosphere of absolute stillness and serenity, combined with an intense sense of adventure. The cool tones of the ice blend harmoniously here with the subtle, warm glow in the clouds. Stunning in an interior: This artwork brings a sense of vastness and tranquillity to the wall. Thanks to its minimalist composition and refined colour palette of soft pink, lilac and cool polar blue, it fits perfectly into a modern, Scandinavian or soothing interior. It makes a fantastic statement for travellers, water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers who wish to bring the pure magic and soothing aesthetics of the Arctic landscape into their everyday living space.
The earth is art, the photographer is only a witness. This is my mindset when I take my photos. Conditions must be right before I take a picture. Through my work I try to make it possible that you can place a piece of art from the earth in your living room.
