This impressionist image was created by 'painting with the camera'. So you are indeed looking at a photograph, but the texture, the structure is reminiscent of an ompressionist painting.
So when printed on canvas, this is like a reproduction of a painting.
Add to this the fact that this really is a unique work, because as I said, as always with fb photography, this is a self-made photo and no copies of that photo exist.
Impressionism is an art movement, born out of painting. The movement had its cradle in France, in the second half of the nineteenth century. Initially, it emerged as a revolting movement against the then widely accepted and officially state-recognised academic art. It eventually developed into a totally new stylistic conception that was at the cradle of twentieth-century modernism. Typical features of Impressionism include its focus on the experience of the moment ('impression'), the choice of themes's from 'modern life', special attention to lighting effects and colour, a sketch-like working method and working in the open air.
Its best-known representatives included painters such as Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas and Paul Cézanne. The Impressionists exhibited their work at eight self-organised exhibitions in Paris between 1874 and 1886. After 1886, their role as innovators was taken over by neo- and post-impressionist groups, although the movement would continue to experience important flowering periods in several countries outside France after that time.
