About ‘Her Voice, Woman, Life, Freedom’ by Olga Talsma

This powerful portrait forms part of the Woman Life Freedom collection and depicts the vulnerability, courage and inner strength of women who continue to stand up for freedom. The intense gaze is immediately striking. Amidst the many layers of paint, botanical textures, spontaneous lines and areas of transparent colour, an image of emotion and beauty emerges. The deep turquoise and rose tones heighten the sense of emotion, whilst the weathered textures symbolise resilience, change and the traces left behind by events.

During the painting process, I work intuitively, allowing emotions, movement and material to merge. As a result, the painting grows organically, creating a portrait that not only shows a face but also carries a story.

The Woman Life Freedom collection carries the stories of women who must continue to be heard. Their courage, sorrow, hope and longing for freedom must not fade into silence or oblivion. Through this work, I aim to keep memories alive and give space to their voices, so that their stories endure, visible, tangible and carried by art.

Olga Talsma

Huis ter heide, Netherlands

Olga Talsma, born and raised on Schiermonnikoog, where she used to ride horses across the beach and dunes, now lives in Drenthe, where nature is a major source of inspiration. She creates powerful portraits of women in which elegance, strength and freedom take centre stage – the very qualities she recognises in the horse as a metaphor.

Originally trained as a graphic designer, Olga chose to devote herself entirely to traditional painting, where she found her own…

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
