I took this picture during the very first week of the lockdown, in March 2020. The initiative came from the A'DAM Tower to give the care workers, but also the people of Amsterdam, a shot in the arm for their dedication and patience. Not knowing what was in store for us with this new virus.
What is good to know is that from Amsterdam north, this tower faces towards Amsterdam center. If you walk in the city center you can see the tower from many different angles. So the message definitely got through! In addition, this photo had a lot of publicity in newspapers, on websites and even in Koffietijd (RTL4).
The photo has also been shared and posted thousands of times, including by Femke Halsema, on the Mayor's account of Amsterdam, on Instagram.
This is probably the photo with the most impact, that I have made. When people ask if I can show them some of my work, most people seem to know this photo. Secretly very cool!
