The Sluishuis on IJburg is a striking architectural feat located on the eastern edge of Amsterdam, and it symbolises modernity and the connection between city and water. This remarkable building was designed by BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group, an internationally renowned architectural firm.

Located at the entrance to the IJburg harbours, the Sluishuis has a unique shape reminiscent of a giant inverted '7'. It consists of two parts that almost seem to float above the surface of the water. The upper part houses luxury flats, while the lower part houses a marina.

A striking feature of the Sluishuis is the gateway to the marina, which runs under the curved shape of the building. This creates a seamless transition from the water to the mainland and emphasises the strong link between the building and its surrounding environment.
