The Göbel Fountain at Hallmarkt in Halle/Saale in Saxony-Anhalt is an extraordinary piece of jewelry: imaginative and provocative figures (groups) from Halle's history adorn it. We see Ludwig the knight, the shepherd of Trotha, the Saalenixe, Fischerstecher, the Hallorenmutter and many others. We see in a piquant triangle the naked Cardinal Albrecht in clearly ecstatic pose with his beautiful Italian mistress as well as his later executed confidant Hans von Schönitz.
The Market Church of Our Lady, also known as St. Mary's Church, is the youngest of the medieval churches in the city of Halle (Saale) and is one of the most important late Gothic buildings from the Renaissance period in central Germany. Its four towers, together with the Red Tower, form the landmark of the Saale city, the city of five towers. In 2004, the 450th anniversary of the church was celebrated.
