When you think of holidays by the sea, images of beaches, waves and lighthouses immediately spring to mind.
These striking and highly visible structures are true landmarks of all coastal areas of the world.
With their beacons, they safeguarded shipping for many years and guided sailors into harbours.
They simply give you a feeling of safety and security.
Lighthouses are true symbols of holidays and life by the sea.
Naturally, I was also drawn to the lighthouses during a holiday on the North Sea coast.
I made my way to Ellenbogen on the famous island of Sylt.
Rain showers alternated with sunshine, creating beautiful fresh and clear colours.
I walked through the dunes and the tall grasses. The wind blew around my ears and the waves crashed against the sea. This is how you imagine a holiday by the sea.
In the sky, a few cumulus clouds passed by in the blue sky. There were few people out and about, so I was able to enjoy the pleasant peace and quiet.
From a nice spot in the tall grass, I had both lighthouses of the Sylt Ellenbogen in view.
The larger List Ost lighthouse can be seen in the foreground. Behind the dune, the distant List West lighthouse looms out of focus.
