About the artwork

The picture shows a close-up of a flower of the Californian golden poppy (Eschscholzia californica), whose bright orange-coloured leaves gently curve outwards. The composition focuses on the central flower, which is particularly emphasised by the dark, neutral background. The fine gradients of light on the petals emphasise the delicate structure and create an almost silky effect.

The inspiration for this work was the intense yet natural colour effect of the golden poppy. I was attracted by the challenge of capturing the luminosity of this plant in a calm, almost graphic depiction - without idealising it. The California poppy stands for lightness, but also for resilience, as it thrives in dry, barren landscapes.

The atmosphere of the picture is calm but lively. It conveys a feeling of clarity and warmth without being obtrusive. The message is subtle: there is also expressiveness in simplicity.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
