When you start to meditate- whether this is in a wellness center or in a Buddhist monastery or simply at home in bed, at some point you are bound to cross paths with the Noble 8 folded path of the Buddha.
The eight folded path is- from a buddhist standpoint- a description of the different fases and stages a human being goes through and needs to work out to reach enlightenment. One of the many many ways we have at our disposal these days to give some guidance and navigational instructions for those who are in the midst of their awakening ( and the chaos that goes with it :) )
1. right view ( how to understand and view suffering
2. right resolve/ intention
3. right speech
4. right action
5. right way of providing for yourself
6. right effort
7. right concentration/ awareness
8. right meditation
Every step on this path is subdivided into a number of steps and topic of contemplation and together they form a meta-physical path of awareness that can be followed. (check wikipedia for more info)
To me; these paintings are studies and /or meditations on paper. I dive into a new concept and once i've absorbed enough information about it, the contemplation starts. What does this mean to me? The images, movies, sounds, melodies and stories that pop up during such meditations become my material for painting, writing and playing.
No lack of inspiration for me (more like the opposite :) )
