After a walk of about 30 minutes in the scorching sun, we arrived at the dazzling white sandy beach of Tortuga Bay. Here, this little dragon was waiting for us and our presence did not care, he just walked slowly by. This gave me plenty of time to take beautiful photos's!
The marine iguana is the only lizard that gets its food from the sea. They evolved very differently from their close relatives found on land. They have a flat tail to swim in strong currents and they developed a special gland to remove salt from their blood. When you get close to these beautiful animals, you can hear them constantly sneezing, which is how they spit out the salt from their gland.
