About ‘Galapagos sea lion male’ by Daniël Schonewille

Not for nothing is island San Cristobal also called the sea lion island. When you arrive at the port, the first thing you hear is their snorting and rumbling sound and the first thing you smell is the smell of their excrement and rotting fish. The entire harbour is full of these clever and playful animals.

Every day around sunset, the sea lions gather on the beaches to play and relax in the sand. A great opportunity arises to stand in the middle of them. The rule is: don't come within two metres. But it is very difficult to keep your distance when they come after you!
