This work was inspired by the photograph of a man living in poverty. He was hungry, thirsty, had mud all over his clothes and his dreadlocks tied up on top of his head against the heat. ElineMoos gave it her own twist by replacing the knot of dreadlocks with her typical lines and loops and giving the person a new coat. The background has the pattern of broken tights to bring back the rawness of Eline's own daily life. The hand gesture could point to the hungry man but as she touches her lip, it may have something sensual about it. The doubt and the 'not knowing' is what makes ElineMoos' work so intriguing.
The work was made with fineliner, pencil, markers and acrylic paint (the coat), created on grey/blue paper. The work is signed.
The original work was made in 2019 and has been hanging in a frame shop in Rotterdam since July 2024.
