I love old photographs from around 1900.
They exude a beauty you do not come across today. Mysterious, formal, moving; everything passes by.
The challenge is then to work with the image, adding my 'sauce' to it. This creates a new context.
In this case, I added to a detail of a portrait (the girl) another image I made earlier. The flowers of a rock plant.
It engages with the garland of flowers in her hair.
In this case, the graininess of the photo creates an added sense of atmosphere. A memory is created.
