About "Floral - The fingerprint of leaves"

by Christine de Vogel

About the artwork

A nice deep background with a flower-like composition of various tulip leaves in shades of green and white that really stand out in this photo.
In this art photo, especially on the right side, a lot of detail can be seen in the leaves, which kind of light up in this photo.

This close up is made of tulip leaves, from different types of tulips that have been put together as if it forms 1 flower. I apply this technique more in my photography, from which the series 'The fingerprint of leaves' was born. Indeed, during years of experimenting with flower petals, I discovered that just like the human fingerprint, each leaf also has its own 'fingerprint'. Something that continues to amaze me and which I keep exploring by capturing it as beautifully as possible in images.

The huge magnification makes it easy to see how much detail there is in the tulip leaves, which you normally cannot perceive with the naked eye. Because of the natural representation, this artwork fits into many different interiors, from modern and chic to romantic and classic. Whereas I normally keep a lot of the natural colour of the leaves, this picture has been edited to achieve a more striking effect. Almost as if it were an X-ray photo of the leaves.
