About the artwork
This softly coloured abstract artwork shows two fantasy fish. Two fish with unusual patterns and with beautiful large flaring tail fins.
The fish have found each other in this artwork. They may have fallen in love with each other and want to give each other a kiss. The funny thing is that in nature, you have fish called kissing fish. These fish in natural pastel colours are a fun interpretation of that.
Or is it just a fish looking into a mirror? What it is remains a question and it tickles your fancy.
Creating unusual, intriguing and imaginative works of art with beautiful patterns, shapes, colours and textures is one of the most fun things for me to do. My starting point is always a photograph or painting of my own hand.
For this artwork with fish in natural pastel shades, I photographed a plastic object. An object that for many people is just trash. But this object had a nice texture and pattern, so it inspired me to take a photo. When shooting, I chose a lighting in green with blue and merged two photos with my camera.
This photo is reflected in the background with these fish, both blurred and zoomed in and also sharp and full-size in the triangles. Furthermore, I used the photo several times to create digital fish with it.
A beautiful modern and unique work of art, combining traditional techniques with modern technologies.
