The bird on this artwork was created from my imagination. It is a product of one of my creative processes. A process where the origin lies in an ordinary photograph, but where the end of the process produces an imaginative and also a bit of an abstract image.
This bird does not exist in real life. Even in a tropical rainforest, you won't be able to spot this bird.
The bird was flying around in my head and was ready to come to life in a special work of art.
I took my inspiration from an ordinary photograph I had taken before. A photograph of rays of light passing through a sphere of glass. With my camera lens close to the round glass, I saw several beautiful light rays and patterns of light and dark. A beautiful spectacle which made for an extraordinary photo. A photo in shades of green and yellow with the occasional tiny bit of rainbow colours. Colours created by the refraction of light.
I digitally distorted this photo, twisted it and adjusted the colours slightly. But not too many colour adjustments done, the green and yellow actually give this work of art a magical but also fairy-like look. Furthermore, a small piece of the original photo can be seen in the background.
The rays of light have a soft pattern that shows up well in the feathers of the wings and also on the bird's body.
A strange bird perhaps, but a unique and imaginative work of art!
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
