'Enigmatic Watcher' is an artwork that immediately intrigues and raises questions. The central figure, with piercing eyes that seem to guard the room, is surrounded by a tangle of eyes and shapes that seem to form an almost surreal world. Inspired by my fascination with the unseen, the idea that there is always something or someone watching and observing. This inspiration came from a combination of nocturnal walks through the city and reading ancient myths about keepers and watchers of secrets.

This work is imbued with an air of mystery, a balance between the known and the unknown. The emotion I wanted to capture is twofold: the calmness that comes with the feeling of being watched, but also the tension of the unknown. For me, this painting represents the duality of observation; the watchman as protector and as voyeur.

The technique used involved patiently building up the texture layer by layer, and playing with shadow and light to give depth and intensity to the gazes staring back from the canvas.
