This artwork shows a special pattern. A pattern in which there is dynamism. It seems to move forward, from left to right, as if you see part of something crawling forward. Perhaps part of a centipede or some other kind of living creature? A living creature from a fantasy world perhaps!
Whatever it is, you can let your imagination run wild with this artwork. And maybe you won't see anything special in it, just a nice abstract pattern of wavy shapes, but that's fine.
This pattern of unusual shapes has as its base an ordinary photograph of a wooden object. Several photos of this wooden object were taken interchangeably using multiple exposures. The final photo was digitally distorted and this shape was repeated several times in this artwork. On the undulating shapes, you can still clearly see the lines present in the wooden object. Also beautiful are the differences in light and dark on the undulating patterns of wood.
This pattern exudes dynamism; it creates a sense of movement. To enhance this, a photo of seawater was used as a background. A shallow area on the beach with seawater, photographed at low tide and full sun. The sunlight makes the seawater sparkle. Under the water, you can clearly see the beach sand which has a wavy pattern formed by the sea, as well as bits of shell.
Sea water! Perhaps this wavy pattern is then a living creature from the sea!
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
