This photo shows the rugged peaks of the Dolomites in Italy bathed in the warm light of the rising sun. The sun's rays just break through the horizon and set a cloud ablaze, giving the effect of a fiery eruption pouring over the ridge. The rocks of the Seceda Ridge stand out sharply against the soft air, with their dramatic points and snow-white highlights on the flanks.

The combination of snow, warm colours and the mysterious mist surrounding the summit makes this scene almost surreal. The contrast between the cold mountain landscape and the warm morning light gives the photo a vivid layering. This is the kind of moment you only experience when you brave the cold and set out early, often in silence, with only the crunch of snow under your feet. The Dolomites show themselves at their most spectacular here.

During this trip through the Dolomites, I was overwhelmed by the views time and again. But this moment, this particular viewpoint, just after sunrise, was one that really stuck with me. The mist still hung gently over the valley and the morning sun was just beginning to break through, making the landscape seem to come alive. I remember standing there with my camera, breathlessly watching the rays of light glide across the peaks. It felt almost surreal. For me, this photo is a reminder of the tranquillity, the power of nature and the feeling of complete freedom.
