Döbeln is one of the oldest towns in Saxony, with the first documented mention dating back to 981. The town is located in the Central Saxon hill country in a wide basin of the Freiberger Mulde, roughly in the centre of the triangle between the Saxon metropolises of Chemnitz, Dresden and Leipzig.
The Döbeln town hall was built in 1912 in the neo-Renaissance style after only two years of construction.
