The Speulderbos on the Veluwe is a very old forest that has been partly transformed into production forest, but large areas of original beech forest have remained. Since farmers mainly harvested the straight trunks in the past, the crooked ones have remained. Here is a winter view from a dark conifer forest to the much less dense beech trees. The specimen in the middle is such a dancing beech. This process creates a fairy-tale like atmosphere. You could find a fairy dancing among the trees.
