About ‘Mount Doom volcano in New Zealand’ by Bep van Pelt- Verkuil

The slopes of the Mt Ngauruhoe volcano (Mt Doom of the famous Lord of the Rings movie) consist of kilometers thick lava, originating from eruptions in the past. Large lava boulders dominate the desert-like landscape on the east side of the mountain. The volcano is part of the Tongariro National Park.
