The name refers to the Coopers' Guild (the craft in which barrels and vats were made). A picturesque place with old warehouses, beautifully restored houses, stepped gables, and hidden details.
Truly a hidden treasure in Middelburg, where you can enjoy wandering through the streets. As the name suggests, the Kuiperspoort used to house the Kuipersgilde. It is a beautiful little courtyard which, if you don't pay attention, you can walk right past. The Kuiperspoort can be found between Dam Square and the Rouaanse Kaai. The houses there mainly date from the second half of the sixteenth century. In the first half of the seventeenth century, the courtyard was bought by the Kuipersgilde.
