The clouds behind this dead tree look like a canopy, so the tree doesn't look as bare as it is.
As soon as this occurred to me, it became difficult not to see the clouds as part of the tree. That observation moved me to take this photo.
The low February sun creates depth and beautiful warm colors in the flat moorland landscape.
The sinuous barren branches contrast with the simple composition. The blue in the sky and the ochre/yellow-brown of the grass and tree dominate in this image, keeping the picture calm.
