This beautiful Chateau is located near Orschwiller in Alsace about ten kilometres west of Sélestat. The castle is situated on a rocky ridge (Stophanberch) of the eastern Vosges at an altitude of 755 m above sea level. The castle is 270 metres long and 70 metres wide. From the castle, it overlooks the Rhine valley. The current castle is the result of a thorough renovation at the beginning of the 20th century in which the existing castle ruins were brought to the state of the 15th century. As soon as you cross the drawbridge, you are immersed in 15th-century daily life. Fully furnished and equipped houses, collections of weapons from the Middle Ages, a forge, a mill... the building is impressive!
Located at 757 m altitude, this historical monument dominates the plain of Alsace. A strategic position that was relatively easy to defend in the past, today it offers stunning views of the Vosges and the Black Forest from its great bastion. On fine days, you can even see the Alps.
