What beautiful birds they are the Black-tailed Godwit's, with its brownish-red rust-coloured neck and beautiful plumage.
A favourite with birders and bird and nature photographers alike.
This specimen was photographed during a tour in Iceland where the Black-tailed Godwit is also common.

The black-tailed godwit is a meadow bird par excellence. It is a spring bird that unfortunately is increasingly being pushed back into meadow bird reserves.
How can you recognise the black-tailed godwit?
It is a large, slender wader, with long legs
stone-red breast (in summer plumage), banded flanks, long, almost straight bill, with orange bill base.
