The bee poison frog reaches a body length of 31 to 38 millimeters. The females as a rule grow larger and fatter than the males. The body colour is predominantly black, the top of the head and the bottom and legs of the body are yellow and there is also a broad yellow band in the middle of the body. This is where the name "bee" poison frog comes from. In the yellow colored parts of the body are black spots present.
