About the artwork
Late September 2022. We are somewhere on the border with Kosovo, high in the Albanian mountains, really away from the highway.
We are in the high-altitude village of Shishtavec. A beautiful village in its original state, for as long as it lasts. Because Albania, too, is moving at lightning speed along the path of development.
In the village of Shishtavec, you already notice the change. The first tourists know how to find it, because there is a well-paved road to it. This has not always been the case.
Still, a few minutes' walk from the village square is enough to a huge nature experience. Here we are just outside the settlement, at an altitude of 1,300 meters. With a valley before us and the neighboring mountain slopes in relief.
A beautiful autumn light falls over the trees that are tentatively beginning to take on autumnal hues, for in Albania autumn begins a little later than in our country. If you zoom in closely, you can see all sorts of things in this image: animal shelters, farmlands and here and there and animals.
