Between 1845 and 1875, several hundred clipper ships were built, especially in the USA and Scotland, which competed against each other in so-called "tar races" to be the first to get home with the new season's cargo. Today, clipper ships are considered the pinnacle of ship design during the age of sailing.
My scene depicts the moment when one of these great ships approaches the distant lights of the harbor after a stormy crossing. I hope you like it.
Since my childhood I paint and draw. Early on I was also interested in technology and history. Like many artists, I am very rarely satisfied with my works. One strives for perfection, tries to at least come close to it.
