Airport Liège-Bierset is an airport 10 kilometers west of the Liège. The airport is located in the territory of Bierset, a borough of Grâce-Hollogne.
The airport was created in 1914 when during World War I the Germans built an airfield on the territory of Bierset. After the war, the Belgian Air Force established itself at the airport. During World War II, the Germans once again occupied the airport.
After the war, the airport is returned to the Belgian government and passenger flights are conducted there.
In 1952, the airport becomes a military airbase again and in 1953, defense gets control of the airport.
In 1976 the airport becomes a public airport again.
Today the airport is mainly used for cargo flights. It is the largest cargo airport in Belgium.
