In the heart of the wintery Dolomites rises the mighty Schlern with its unmistakable silhouette, flanked by the striking Saltnerspitze. This impressive photo shows the Seiser Alm in a rare, almost magical moment: deep down in the valley, fog is already gathering, slowly rising and announcing that the vast winter landscape will soon be shrouded in mysterious silence. The alpine pasture still lies open – an untouched blanket of snow glitters in the cold light, every contour clearly defined, every shadow finely nuanced. The snow-covered alpine huts look like little islands of security in the middle of the white expanse. Above it all tower the Schlern and Saltnerspitze mountains, powerful, timeless, majestic. But the fog is getting closer. It creeps silently over slopes and hollows, gradually transforming the landscape into a gentle sea of white. The clear winter splendour becomes a mystical spectacle between visibility and concealment – a moment that lasts only a few moments.
This image is more than just a winter snapshot. It is a tribute to the tranquillity, grandeur and fleeting beauty of the Alps. A work of art for all those who love the special magic of snow-covered mountain landscapes and want to be touched by the quiet power of winter.
The Seiser Alm is located in South Tyrol in the Dolomites and, at around 56 square kilometres, is the largest high alpine pasture in Europe. At an altitude of around 1,600 to 2,350 metres, it offers an impressive panorama with views of famous Dolomite peaks such as Schlern, Langkofel and Plattkofel.
