About the artwork

Overview of part of the Rhaetian Railway's Albula line shortly after its opening in 1904 with a view of one of the famous Albula viaducts

The "Albulabahn" is a railway line of the Rhätische Bahn (RhB) in Switzerland. It is one of the most famous. narrow-gauge railway lines in Switzerland and is known for its impressive scenery and technical feats. The Albula Bahn runs through the Albula Valley and connects Thusis with St Moritz in the canton of Graubünden.

The line is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its historical significance and the unique architecture of the railway infrastructure. The most famous parts of the Albula Railway are the Landwasserviaduct , the Albula Viaduct and the Albula Tunnel. This railway line was opened in 1904 and this photo was taken shortly after this opening. Due to the planting of many trees, the current view can no longer be taken this way.
