About ‘A romantic Frisian lake in winter’ by Grietje van der Reijnst

This is a photo of a small lake in Friesland called "it Nannewiid". It is located in south-west Friesland near the town of Oudehaske.

In the winter it is often used for ice skating. This is because it is shallow and if it freezes for a while, you can soon skate here.

I like to come to this location. Every season it is different.
This time I was there on a beautiful winter morning in January. The sun was up for a while and there was still a small layer of fog above the water.

This photo is a double shot. This gives it an extra mysterious atmosphere.
In real life the dock is in front of me, as a photographer, but because these two photos were taken through each other, you can compose the photo in a different way.

It is important that you look carefully at how the photos will overlap. It has to make some sense.

For me this is a special way of photographing which gives surprising results.
